K3: The Big City
Brad had a simple life, living in a small town, in a small farm house with his parents. One day, his dad came home from work with big news for Brad. He got all excited, thinking his parents would buy him a brother or sister to play with. He quickly found out this wasn’t the case. His father got a new job in a big city. An apartment building would be taking the place of their farm house. It took hours for them to get to their new destination, with a huge moving truck following behind their car. Once they got there, they were greeted by the doorman. Brad grabbed his small box of toys and walked into an elevator that he rode for what seemed like hours. As he stepped out of it, his mom walked him into their new home and then to his room. There was a huge window. He set down his toys and walked towards to window. Outside was a huge harbor with giant ships sailing. Buildings towered over the harbor. Brad wasn’t used to anything like this. Later that night, he wandered down to the lobby of the apartment building where he bumped into the same doorman that was there earlier. As Brad stared out the doors, the doorman could tell that Brad was in shock with the night time city lights. He decided to grab Brad by the hand and take him on a little personal tour. He waved to the security guard telling him he’d be back soon. Minutes later, they were standing on a bridge overlooking the harbor and the buildings surrounding it. Brad just stood there staring, amazed at how big it all was up close. He asked the doorman what all the buildings were for, and he responded by telling him they had a bunch of different purpose. Some were office buildings and others were apartments, just like the one he was living in. They stayed there for an hour longer, just looking, completely amazed. At this moment, Brad decided that moving to the big city wasn’t as bad as he thought it’d be.
